Wiring and installation context
This reference profile starts with the existing switch locations and connected equipment. A licensed electrician confirms neutral availability, enclosure space, circuit loading, isolation requirements and the compatibility of each controlled device before any module is selected.
Where the existing wiring and switch arrangement are suitable, IA modules can be introduced behind compatible switch plates or in an appropriate enclosure while familiar local control remains available. The example does not assume that every home can avoid new cable runs; the site assessment determines the final pathway.
Commissioning plan
The initial handover would centre on five scenes: Arrive home, Entertain, Movie, Morning and Away. Arrive home can coordinate the entry path, living-room lights, comfort setpoint and blinds. Away can switch selected lighting off, move blinds to an agreed position and confirm the state of connected access points.
Schedules should begin conservatively. A typical first pass might pre-condition the living area before the usual arrival window and run an all-off check at night. Occupants can then refine those rules after living with the system rather than accepting an over-automated configuration on day one.
App roles and everyday use
The owner account receives full control of devices, scenes, schedules and authorised users. A household member can receive everyday control without configuration rights, while a guest or service provider can be limited to the entry and rooms relevant to their visit. Exact permissions depend on the final IA app configuration.
Daily operation still begins at the wall switch. The app adds whole-home visibility, remote intervention and reusable scenes for moments that involve several systems. That balance keeps the home approachable for visitors and resilient when a phone is not nearby.
